MICROVOTE

Polls where every voter is a checked, real person, every person gets one vote, and every ballot is on a public ledger that anyone can recount.

TESTNET DEMO SIMULATED ID CHECK

UNSCIENTIFIC DEMO MicroVote is an unscientific demo. Results come only from the people who choose to take part, aren't a representative sample, and aren't an official election.

Unscientific demo. Unofficial and advisory. MicroVote polls are not elections or scientific surveys. Results aren't binding on anyone; they show what the people who took part said.

How it works, in plain words

  1. Prove you're a real, unique person, once. In the full app, voters check a government photo ID and a live selfie one time, so nobody can sign up twice. The server keeps a scrambled code for spotting duplicates, not your name or ID details.
  2. Your phone makes your voting key. The key stays on your device. Each ballot is signed with it, so nobody else can vote as you, and nobody can change your vote.
  3. One person, one vote. Pick an answer, like Yes or No, and cast it. If the same voter sends a second ballot, the count ignores it: the first ballot is the one that counts.
  4. Every ballot is public. Ballots are recorded on the XRP Ledger, a public blockchain. Each one has a link you can open to see it for yourself.
  5. Anyone can recount. The results come straight from the ledger's public history, using fixed rules. You don't have to trust our count; you can check it.

Public on purpose

Ballots are on the record. On the ledger, each ballot is tied to a random voter ID, not to your name.

No crypto needed

Voters don't need to own XRP or a crypto wallet. The app's relay account posts each signed ballot and pays the tiny network fee.

About this demo

Testnet demo, simulated ID check. The demo runs on the XRP Ledger test network, where the XRP has no value. Here's what's simplified:

  • The ID check is simulated. Nothing is verified, and every demo voter is placed in the same sample district, so the demo can't stop one person from making several usernames. Treat demo results as a show-and-tell, not as real opinion.
  • Sign-in is a username only. The phone app uses passkeys instead.
  • In the browser, your voting key is saved in that browser. Anyone using the same browser profile could vote as that demo user.
  • The sample polls are examples made up to show the app, not questions this campaign is asking.
  • The test network gets reset from time to time, and then the demo starts over with fresh polls.
  • Usage limits. To keep the demo up for everyone, sign-ups and votes are limited per network and per hour.

Don't enter your real name or personal details in the demo. Usernames and ballots are public.

Who runs the count?

Two accounts do the paperwork: a registrar that records who's allowed to vote, and a relay that posts ballots. The relay can't fake or change a ballot, because each one carries the voter's own signature. The registrar is the part you have to trust today, and that's on the list to strengthen before MicroVote is used for anything that matters.
